Project Detail

This large project consisted of two almost identical water treatment plants at different locations in Manchester. The treatment systems handled watertable, rainfall and train maintenance depot waste water. We installed all of the automation and control software design including SCADA systems and the design and build of large motor control centres. Each treatment site typically had three pumping stations to get the dirty water to a large lagoon prior to treatment. Each site was installed with power distribution systems which provided automatic changeover facility during power failure using a 350KVA standby generator.

SM Control was also responsible for:

  • The preparation of a functional design specification
  • Design of control and diagnostic software
  • Design, manufacture and testing of control panels for MCCs and power distribution and standby facility
  • Electrical design & installation
  • Commissioning (including product trials)
  • Training
  • Supply of a comprehensive documentation package
  • Form ‘B’ design
